The Verdura Golf Course boasts a beautifully imaginative design which creates a round of varied play with changes in both direction and elevation, whilst offering spectacular views of the coastline of Sicily throughout. This beautifully scenic course features a number of outstanding holes, making it one of the highest regarded golf courses in Italy.
Whilst playing this course you will get the opportunity to experience some of the best views in Italy. From the Sicilian countryside as your backdrop throughout the majority of the holes to an old railway line being your backdrop for a few more holes…… and then the seaside comes into view. No expense was spared during the construction of the Verdura Golf Course, and it is fair to say that the famous American architect, Kyle Phillips, has successfully created a highly regarded golf course bearing invigorating challenges.
The benefit of having a course on the coast is that the views are often magnificent, and an invigorating challenge is created with strong tail winds blowing over from the Mediterranean Sea. The wind on the course can be strong, and combined with the bunker protected greens and occasional water feature, this course is a challenge for players of all abilities. With an impressive five tee off options on offer, the course at the Verdura Golf Resort is an unmissable choice on your next Italy golf holiday, featuring several outstanding holes that can be appreciated by all.
The course is undeniably a great challenge with numerous placements of water hazards and bunkers. The course bears a stern challenge; with many holes hugging the shoreline meaning your tee shot must be precise in order to avoid the water on one side, and strategically placed bunkers on the other side.
The majority of holes across this magnificent course offers sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea and Sicilian mountains. With several hazards and water features, this golf course offers a fantastic challenge that can be appreciated by all golf players due to the variety of tee off options on offer.
Early highlights include the short par four 3rd and the early water holes at the 5th and 6th, each with stunning outlooks. From the 13th onwards, the course turns seaward, plummeting and swooping across glorious links terrain. The best is saved for last, with the penultimate hole rising gently into the foot of a Sicilian hillside. The 18th is a fabulous par four closer, crashing from an elevated tee along the craggy coastline.
Practice facilities at Verdura
Practice facilities are every bit as excellent as the courses and include a double-ended driving range with 80-yard wide tees providing the perfect hitting direction away from the sun. Other practice facilities include three chipping and putting greens and three bunkers. Complimentary Callaway golf balls are provided for practicing.
The clubhouse, built around a small piazza, houses a pro shop which sells equipment and clothing from luxury golf brands; a restaurant and bar overlooking one of the 18th holes; male and female changing rooms with showers and lockers; and a gelateria. Clubs, trolleys and carts can be rented, and complimentary club and shoe cleaning and bag storage will be part of the very personal, ‘private club’ service that visitors will enjoy here.
