Touched by the hands of Harry Vardon, six-time Open Champion, Letchworth Golf Club is one of the loveliest parkland courses in Hertfordshire, renowned for its cross bunkering and fast greens.

Located on the edge of England’s first ever Garden City, not far from the A1, and just a short drive down leafy Letchworth Lane, the course is set in beautiful undulating countryside. A true parkland course, well renowned for its firm fast greens and tight tree lined fairways, Letchworth Golf Club is amongst the best the county has to offer.

It is a fair test for golfers of all abilities, but can be a serious challenge from the back tees, and fully justifies a standard scratch of 72. A classic two tee start is available with the 1st and 10th tees just a short walk from the clubhouse and this allows all groups to play at optimum pace.

The course was extended and updated in 2003 to its present form and length, and an on-going improvement process, guided by renowned course architects, arborists and ecologists, seeks to strike just the right balance between  traditional and modern golf architecture.

The great variety of mature trees forms the perfect backdrop to the course. This provides a profusion of spring blossom from fruit trees, beautiful summer shades from  weeping willows, chestnut and copper beech, right through to the classic colours of autumn.   There is also an abundance of animal and bird life, including the famous Letchworth black squirrel, muntjac deer, green woodpeckers and kestrels.
