Opened in 1993, Laguna National Golf and Country Club is one of Singapore’s premier golf and country clubs offering two eighteen-hole championship courses – Masters and World Classic.

Laguna National Golf and Country Club has won various prestigious accolades and hosted events including the Singapore Masters, Korean LPGA ADT Caps Tour Championship, Prudential Causeway Trophy and The Championship at Laguna National. Laguna National is a private golf in Singapore.

Laguna National Golf Masters Course :

Despite some efforts to build in some Scottish mounding, the Masters Course at Laguna National Golf & Country Club in Singapore is a thoroughly modern, American style course. Four huge lakes define the topography and they influence play on twelve of the holes. Some of the threats are more to the background whilst at others, notably at the 11th, 12th and 17th, there is more of a clear and present danger.

The course is built on land reclaimed from the sea, explaining the effort to create drama and a diverse experience. The combined effect of the water and these massive sandy areas does add feature to the land. The Caltex Masters is played here and, for the most part, the professionals stroll around the course with nary a care. Most of the rest of us, especially if we are struggling from the tee, are likely to get our money’s worth.

Three of the four par-3’s involve taking on the water, pretty much from tee-to-green, and many other greens (and fairways) are dangerously flanked by the small lakes. Both the front and back-nines finish with very elegant par-4’s that run alongside the same small lake; the 18th very dangerously dog-legging in towards the lake, leaving a tough closing shot to the final green. Proximity to roads and the airport may create some background noise at times, but certainly nothing to detract from enjoying this relatively open and most attractive parkland layout.

Laguna National Golf World Classic Course :

A masterpiece by Andy Dye, amalgamating ‘the best holes in one course’, the Laguna National World Classic has been rated the most difficult course in Singapore, and possibly Asia, from the Championship Black Tees at 76.4 and slope of 162.

The exciting terrain is carefully sculpted, built to provide both strategic and physical challenge to golfers. It is paved with premium turf and soil and incorporated with the latest technology as a sign of its stature and reputation. The World Classic Course is created for prestigious tournaments and to challenge the best golfers all around the world.

Bunkering, as on the Masters course, is a threatening mix of small and large sand traps, sometimes railway-sleepered, at other times large fairway-lining sandy waste areas. Around the greens, some dangerously deep bunkers come into play. The terrain here has been mounded to create an excellent array of interesting and challenging holes, some more tree-lined, others in more open and gently undulating terrain. Rock-lined water hazards are often in play, frequently so on the back-nine. At the 12th and 13th holes you will need to cross a wide-ish canal (Sungei Bedok), while the 9th and 18th holes bring you back to the clubhouse alongside the same small lake, attractively decorated with several boulders.

Don’t expect to shoot your handicap, or even enjoy what you are doing here, but if you can play with a sense of humor and carefree then World Classic might be a fun round of golf
