Baywood Greens is a public golf club located in Long Neck, Delaware that is consistently rated as one of the very best in the state. Described as the “Augusta of the North,” Baywood Greens is by far the most visually spectacular golf in Delaware. Honored with the #1 ranking by Golf Digest’s Best in State ranking for 2011-2012 and deemed one of the 50 best courses for women by Golf Magazine for Women, Baywood Greens is a fantastic course for anyone from beginner to pro.

Woodside at Baywood Greens – 1st to 9th

Carved out of the woods, the Woodside Nine holes are the more traditional of the nines. Throughout the nine, you will notice not only the beauty of the hardwoods, but also the wild flowers in the four environmentally sensitive areas, a waterway from the Delaware Bay, and the numerous wild animals that inhabit the area.

The 603-yard 5th on the Woodside nine is a very challenging par five, despite the generous width of the fairway on this hole, rated stroke index 1 on the scorecard. The second shot is played downhill to the lay-up area, leaving a short iron to a two-tiered green that’s guarded by a large bunker to the left side of the putting surface.

The fifth hole is a very challenging par 5

The 9th is also challenging. The drive must fly over a dry pond to reach the fairway on this short par 4. Use a middle iron to carry over the corner of a fresh water wetland and a pot bunker to reach the green that is protected by two bunkers.

Waterside at Baywood Greens – 10th to 18th

With acres of man made ponds on virtually every hole, the Waterside Nine at Baywood Greens lives up to its name. The golfer is in for a treat as he stands on the tee box or out in the fairway and is able to experience the majestic views out over the water. Also featuring two tunnels and several timbered bridges, the Waterside Nine offers an experience like no other.

The 425-yard 15th at Baywood greens

The 425-yard 15th on the Waterside nine is another tough hole. This par 3 is relatively short in length, but the green is elevated 16 feet. Use an extra club to compensate for the change in elevation. The severely terraced green is protected by a pond and surrounded by sand.

Closing hole : This par 4 begins with island tees and ends with an arched bridge. A long and accurate drive is required to set up a difficult second shot to a green guarded by bunkers and water. Par is an excellent score.

Perhaps one of the greatest golf experiences in the region, the meticulously manicured Baywood Greens also offers excellent practice facilities, an outstanding putting and chipping green, a convenient, spacious shower area, and delicious food and refreshments. Individual lessons and clinics are available for all ages and the Pro Shop is always ready to assist with any need that may arise.
