Sonning Golf Club’s original layout was designed by JH Taylor with later input from Harry Colt. The course measures 6,329 yards and has a par of 70 and a SSS of 71. It generally plays longer than its yardage due to the elevation of several greens and fairways and although originally a heath land course, there is now an abundance of mature trees and shrubs that line its fairways.

The greens are always true and fast and will test the very best of players. The celebrated golf commentator Peter Alliss has described the seventeenth hole as “one of the best short holes in the South East of England“.

The course is always presented in excellent condition throughout the year, and as the Michelin Guide says “It is well worth a detour”. Martin Hawtree, the renowned International golf course architect, has redesigned Sonning’s original Taylor/Colt layout and has produced an impressive new 18th hole that finishes in front of the clubhouse. With an excellent practice range and short game area, Sonning provides some of the best facilities in the South of England.
