Merignies Golf

Merignies Golf is the most hilly golf course in the flat region of Lille. Golf course designer Michel Gayon has taken advantage of the beautiful countryside with the addition of 1.5 million cubic metres of earth to create three courses of great character at Mérignies.

The 27 holes are designed like a Scottish links with few trees, broom gently blowing in the wind, breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside and fairways rolling between the hills. Each tee offers its own challenge.

Merignies Golf’s team strives constantly to maintain top quality courses at Mérignies Golf. Tees, fairways and greens are completely drained and irrigated, tees and greens have a sand foundation which enhances their all-weather capabilities and allows the greens to be played on all year round, unless the ground is frozen.

One enters quietly with an easy hole # 1; even water behind the green does not scare because a huge bunker protects the too long balls. From hole #2, the drawing is visible, one understands the principle: tortuous with large mounds. To play the shot you have to go to the green to see how you will negotiate, what direction to take to prepare the next shot… It is the whole point of the game! Michel Gayon leads you, according to his will, twisting and turning while maintaining a playable shot regardless to the level of golfer. This is particularly true on hole #6 with a volcano hole in the middle, filled with sand, awaiting the long driver. What to do: Turn left? Right?
Attack of the greens is more impressive than dangerous. There are some bunkers, but they are placed here just to keep your ball to go too far right or left.

Note that the golf closed at 6PM during the low season.
