Golf du Sporting Club de Vichy

In 1907, the Vichy Golf sees its work started. Joseph Aletti is the project sponsor, assisted by the Compagnie Fermiere. Arnaud Massy, a famous French champion at the time and teacher, is the architect. On May 1st 1908 is the inauguration of a 8-hole course and the small club house, under the direction of Mr. Aletti. In 1922, the Vichy Sporting Club is created and rents the club to the Compagnie Fermiere. The increasing number of players requires the creation of a small 8-hole course in the walls of the racetrack, and the expansion of the Club House with the installation of lockers and a bar. His fame is only growing and personalities around the world come here to entertain: The Queen of Yugoslavia, the Aga Khan, the Emperor of Annam, the Westminster Duchess, the Pasha of Marrakech and many others… In 1946 Henri Cotton, the famous champion of the time, wins an International Championship held in Vichy. More recently, Prince Reignier, Maurice Schumann, Roger Couderc, Jean Pierre Aumont, Sophie Desmarets, Didier Pironi, Jacques Laffite, Georges de Caunes, Yannick Noah, Henri Lecomte and François Mitterrand.
