Victoria

The Garden State of Victoria is the smallest state in the mainland of Australia though its five and a half million inhabitants make it the most densely populated. Melbourne, the state capital and largest city, is where all the top sporting action takes place; from Melbourne Park (venue for the Australian Open Tennis) to Flemington Racecourse (where the Melbourne Cup is run). The best of Australian courses are found in Victoria and many of them are located on the famous Melbourne sandbelt where old favourites from the 1920s and 1930s like Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath or Commonwealth.
